Handmade Love Lee Soo Hyuk
“Handmade Love” is a romance fantasy web drama that will interest a lot of K-Drama viewers.
Lee SooHyuk, Lee SuJi, and Park SeungJi are the lead actors.
Popular actor and model Lee SooHyuk takes on the lead role in this drama. Earlier this year, he acted in his first drama since his military discharge “Born Again”. He previously acted in “The Scholar Who Walks the Night”, “Lucky Romance”, and “Sweet Stranger and Me”.
Former The Ark and actress Lee SuJi (“The IDOLM@STER.KR”), and model and actor Park SeungJi (“The Rule Of Web Dramas”) are also lead actors.
A man who has it all, from acting skills to natural charm, Lee Soo Hyuk debuted as a model who walked down in different fashion runways. He has also done many magazine shoots from covers to features such as GQ, Bazaar, Elle, and more. He also appeared in 2NE1’s music video “It Hurts” and later expanded his acting career wherein he played different secondary roles in both Korean movies and series.
Now, this is a Korean drama, so of course, all the jailmates have something in common: Shim Bok Nyeo, who has spent 30yrs in jail, was falsely accused of killing her husband. Her husband was a late acquaintance of the current Chairman of Shinhwa Group, a large conglomerate. Moon Soo In was the daughter-in-law of the Chairman, and Seo Mi Oh was the girlfriend of the youngest son of the Chairman. The late husband of Son Pong Geum used to also work for Shinhwa before he passed away. The drama will follow the lives of these four women while in jail and after, as they try to uncover the truth behind all the false accusations, and go up against the Chairman of Shinhwa and his family.
Besides the main plot, each lady will have her own love story going on during the show, which made it even more entertaining to watch. I liked to see Moon Soo In grow and mature, and then stand up for her own convictions, instead of being/staying the typical doormat you see in many Asian shows. I found this drama to be a good balance between a family drama (when they get released, they will all live together, as one large family), a “typical” drama (crazy in-laws, trying to ruin your life left and right), and a “women” drama, if I can say that, where you see a group of women standing and fighting together the hardships of the modern Korean life.
Regarding the Main Guy, I don’t have much to say: he’s the one who taught the inmates to make bread while in jail. He’s also part of a nasty love-triangle between Moon Soo In and her sister-in-law, and some more in the drama (= hidden truths), but I won’t spoil you too much here. Actually, upon reflection, this drama is mainly focused on the four women, more than any guys around. I appreciated the fact that they show them strong and resourceful, instead of the more traditional roles we see usually.
“So you’re not taken from me again and neither is your mother,” Noah says.
Noah is Charlotte’s father, and Charlotte’s mother is her own daughter Elizabeth. At the end of season two, we see that Young Noah and Young Elizabeth are in the bunker together when the Apocalypse happens. Presumably they grow older together and eventually Elizabeth got pregnant with Charlotte. Sometime after Charlotte was born, she was taken by an unknown person and brought back in time.
Charlotte was raised by H.G. Tannhaus, never knowing who (or where or when) her parents were. She then got together with Peter, and they had Franziska and Elisabeth — who’s both Charlotte’s daughter and mother.
“I promised her I’d bring you back,” Noah says. “I’ve looked for you all these years. But you were here the entire time. Adam knew it was you, he knew it the whole time. He is preparing for what comes afterwards. I read the last pages. The nuclear plant, Jonas — it’ll all happen again. The apocalypse … in two days. But I now know what I must do. I have to end Adam, so everyone lives. Not just those in the bunker.”
Noah realizing Adam had the answer to his search the entire time was the breaking point. But Noah failed to kill Adam, and was instead shot and killed by his sister Agnes.
